Charles Page Perin : Mr. Charles Page Perin was an eminent Consulting Engineer of New York and Mr. J N Tata was advised by Mr. Julian Kennedy to meet him if he was ready to meet the cost of preliminary investigation for the iron and steel plant. Because he knew no one better qualified to undertake the geological work, which must be the initial step. Jamshedji at once went to New York to see C P Perin and engaged his service. Mr. Perin could not go to India at that time, and advised Mr. Tata to employ his associate, Mr. C. M. Weld. After the prospecting work in the Dhalli and Rajhara Hills in Drug Area was completed and coal from the Jherria coal field were tested, Mr. Perin arrived from America in 1904 to give his advice in the final shaping of the scheme. Thereafter he stayed in India and supervised the investigation until the site for the proposed plant was fixed at Sakchi. Click here to see picture of Charles Page Perin ....... | |
