Shapurji Saklatvala : Mr. Shapurji Saklatvala was a nephew of Mr. J N Tata. Initially, the prospecting work in the Chanda District wwere conducted under his supervision. Mr. Saklatvala was not an expert, and it was through no fault of his that the Chanda enterprise had languished. He had established camps in various blocks for which Mr. Tata had prospecting license. Later, in April 1903, he was joined by Mr. Weld and Mr. Dorabji Tata and all three entered upon a period of adventurous wandering in the Chanda District, Drug area near Raipur, Sambalpur, districts of Manbhum, Singhbhum, Dhalbhum etc. until the site for the proposed plant was fixed at Sakchi.
